Competitive Sting information 2024/24 season
The HGHA shall form a competitive team for a given division and category if there is sufficient ice time available, interest and talent among its players to do so, and appropriately certified bench staff, as determined by the Board of Directors.
At this time, after many discussions and looking at our projected registration numbers for next season, we have decided that the 2 divisions that could possibly qualify for a competitive team next year would be U13 and U18s. Both of these divisions should have enough registrants to have a competitive team as well as at least one, but likely two house-league teams.
As such, if there is enough interest and talent, the U13 team would be categorized as a U13 B team, the U18 team would be a U18 B team and both would compete in the Southern OWHL loop next season. This season, the OWHL southern loop had teams from North Bay, Central York, Orillia, Barrie, Collingwood and Georgina. The teams could expect 2 practices a week, for a total of approximately 40 practice times, and would play approximately 30 games in the season, 15 home and 15 away games.
Ice allocations are still undetermined, but The B teams will likely have one practice before school in Huntsville, with the second hopefully being held after school, possibly in Huntsville, Baysville or Burksfalls.
The registration price for the B teams would be approximately $800 for the season, and tournament fees would be in addition, with the number of tournaments to be determined by the team.
We have secured ice time for competitive team tryouts on April 17th and 18th in Huntsville. Registration for those tryouts is now open on our website, and will cost $30 per player. Registration deadline is April 10th.
The U13 B tryout time will be from 5-6:20 pm and the U18 B team from 6:30-8pm on both April 17th and 18th.
After the tryouts, if it is determined that there is sufficient interest and talent and enough bench staff support, the board will open registrations for these teams provided we can secure sufficient ice times. Players that have successfully made the teams will be expected to register and commit to the season with payment made in full.

Players coming from associations other than the Huntsville Girls Hockey Association will need a permission to skate form signed by their home association before they are able to tryout.
